Khartoum: Altaghyeer
Ground anti-aircraft systems on Saturday repulsed drone attacks launched by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) 19th Infantry Division in Merowe, the Northern State, and the city’s strategic dam.
The Division said in a statement the attack proved that the RSF is determined to target the country’s civil infrastructure and strategic sites.
But these attempts will not achieve their goals as the SAF will continue protecting military buildings and vital installations, the statement said.
The RSF has launched drone strikes many times against the 19th Infantry Division and Merowe Dam, which provides parts of the country with electricity. Its attacks included other locations since start of war in April 2023.

Shurfi emphasized that the relationship between Sudan and the UAE is built on decades of cooperation and understanding, which will not be easily shaken by political upheaval.
Impact & Analysis
The decision to cut ties with the UAE has raised concerns about the future of Sudan’s diplomatic relations with other countries in the region. Analysts warn that such actions could have far-reaching consequences for Sudan’s international standing and economic stability. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold in the coming days and weeks.
In a rapidly changing political landscape, Shurfi’s refusal to comply with the decision to sever ties with the UAE demonstrates the complex dynamics at play in Sudan’s post-revolution government.
